The Worship Leader Reading List

The Worship Leader Reading List

If leaders are readers, and readers are leaders, then worship leaders definitely need to be readers.

I know, I know.  You thought that once you were done with school, your days of reading were over.  However, if you want to grow in your worship leading, you need to be feeding yourself the right stuff.

Now, you many not even consider yourself a good reader or you might even straight up hate it, but know that you can take steps with this in as little as 10 minutes a day.  That’s all you need!

Just like with exercise, you just need to make small changes over time to see results in your growth.  Taking just a few minutes a day to read the right books will grow your leadership and ability to lead worship.  The trick is to be consistent and to commit to feeding yourself regularly, and you will see results in your leading.

Also, you want to make sure you’re not just reading one kind of book.  You might have some sweet arms, but you’re not going to get fit by only doing bicep curls.

In my opinion, worship leaders should be reading 5 kinds of books:

Theology – Learn more about what you believe.
Worship – Learn more about how/why we worship.
Leadership – Learn more about leading people.
Craft – Learn more about increasing your abilities.
Fun – Just read something you enjoy.

I want us to all be able to take steps together, so I put together a brief reading list below of books for each category that you should be reading, if you haven’t already.  These are books I’ve either read or that have been suggested to me.  Each book is linked to Amazon (these are affiliate links, FYI), so you can check out more about them there:

Trust me, you’ve got 10 free minutes in your day (did someone say bathroom reading?).  I love having these books on Kindle, so I can read them anywhere, even while I’m waiting for something.

Take a step, and watch your worship leading grow before your eyes!

Note: This is not an exhaustive or complete list, by any means.  There are many great books I did not mention that are worth reading.  Feel free to share your suggestions on the thread for this post on the cdenning.com Facebook Page Here.
