It’s 2:01 am. I just got home and settled from a road trip to see Sleeping at Last with this guy and Tito. It was great. Great conversation. Great friends. Great music. Great trip in general. It was real good to see this guy again too at the great Zaxby’s.
I was incredibly satisfied with our experience at V21. It was a cool place, horrible sound but a cool place. The people seemed real nice, and the places we went, like Cup-of-Joe and the Zax, were real cool. Some might even say that the coffee place was super-trendy. One thing is for sure, we weren’t even near artsy enough to blend in well. Ohh well. Anyways, the opening bands were pretty blah. Nothing special, just real loud with no space or dynamics. They had a good time. Once Sleeping at Last started playing, we were reminded of why we had come. They were awesome. It was a great time. They played well and did a great job of doing what few can do, replicating the sound on their albums. The bass player was off the chains, and the Rhodes he was playing was very quality. We met him real quick afterwards, real nice guy. The tone that the singer had on his Tele was ridiculous. I mean seriously. It was the perfect amount of clean with just the right splash of grit on it. They were great, and I had an awesome time. I also love taking road trips with friends, and this one of at the top.
